I can see people developing friendship without ever meeting face to face. If I have an opportunity, I may pay a visit to the Peace Corps Medical Office nurse whom I corresponded with over the last two months. See post below.
She said "after all this hard work that you have a wonderful experience with Peace Corps. From my point of view you should make a wonderful volunteer."
That's very encouraging.
