A = adventurer
Have you eaten camel, kangaroo, agouti, alligator, hare or rabbit, besides regular meat from bison, cattle, pigs, chicken, turkeys, and seafood?
Well, I have, to use Tom Papa’s phrase in his travel log on the National Public Radio show Live From Here. Tom is one of the top comedic voices in the country.
The camel and kangaroo meat were eaten in the good old USA.

Adventure is a state of mind
The dictionary definition of adventure is an exciting or remarkable or very unusual experience, or the undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks. To me, anything and everything out of the ordinary routine can be an adventure, even being stuck in the middle of a muddy, rutted road in Guatemala for six hours on a bus.

As Russel Banks identified himself as a voyager, so do I. Yes, like him, I do touristy things, the sights, sounds and tastes. Time permitting, I venture out to learn about the cultures, peoples, and histories.
As an adventurer and traveler,
- I have traveled in 5 continents (middle of the road
between the more-traveled and the less-traveled). It means that my eyes are
wide open for new experiences.
- A in my middle name is for adventure.
- I have done scuba diving, in tandem sky diving, white water rafting, and taken a mule ride trip down to the Colorado River from the top of the Grand Canyon South Rim.
- I am really proud that a local Cusco (Peru) tour guide asked me, the tourist, whether his answer to our tour group was correct or not.
The shaman held me while I soared like a condor at Peru's Amaru

synopsis--Ten Fireside poets wrote on many subject matters, from environmental protection, gratitude in simple things, appreciation of people, to memories of childhood.
funded by City of Richfield, Minnesota, U.S.A.
synopsis--With their distinct voices and mutual love of words, Alice Chu and Ellen Smith created poems that touch on many themes of life. From two voices, they share with readers their perspectives on life, its absurdity, sweet and sad moments; on the challenge and joy of daily living, the weather’s effect on moods, and their love of literary art.
reviews--
“Two deft and sweet poets, who care deeply about the practice and future of our beloved craft, offer you a melodious duet of their work. Dive in!” Judyth Hill, internationally published poet, author and cross-genre mentor
“Like streams flow into rivers and rivers flow into lakes and lakes flow into oceans, so does the poetry of Alice and Ellen flow from these pages into the hearts of readers. Be comforted. Be inspired. Be ready for an exhilarating experience in poetry paradise.” Maxine Bryant, poet, author of The Truth Be Told
“Alice Chu and Ellen Smith have craftily interwoven poems filled with compassion, contemplation and gentle humor. Definitely a joy to read.” Ronald j Palmer, poet, 2019 consulting editor Martin Lake Journal
Gratitude To You Who Have
thanked me for the service when you hear that I will be in Peace Corps service. “I’m proud of you”, “I admire you” are some comments. This is most gratifying.
